GWS tie down key forward
Greater Western Sydney have been boosted by the news forward Jeremy Finlayson has penned a new three-year deal with the club.
The Giants face a daunting task of trying to get a number of uncontracted players tied down to new deals, but they have got off to a good star with Finlayson.
The 24-year-old joined the Giants as a draft pick in 2014 and has gone on to make 52 appearances for the club.
But Finlayson has really thrived since moving to the forward line in 2019 and has kicked goals for fun since.
GWS General Manager Football Jason McCartney says the club are delighted to have secured the future of Finlayson, who will now stay with them until the end of 2023 at least.
"Jeremy has shown he can play at both ends of the ground and his ability to also pinch hit in the ruck has made him a valuable and versatile member of our playing group," said McCartney.
"Jeremy’s development both on and off field in recent years has been exceptional and we’re delighted he’s committed long term to the Giants."
Meanwhile, Finlayson is also happy to commit to the club.
"It’s an unreal feeling, I’ve been here since the start of my career," he said. "I’m happy with another three years here, it’s a great club with a great culture and I’m really happy."
GWS will now turn their attention to trying to secure the likes of Jeremy Cameron and Zac Williams, who are both attracting strong interest from rival clubs.
GWS are priced at 2.05 to beat St Kilda who are 1.80.
