Joshua needs huge heavyweight showdown
Anthony Joshua insists his legacy rests on him fighting one of or both Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
The WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight champion insists he is just waiting for a battle with either of the heavyweights as he looks towards a potential career-defining showdown.
Fury and Wilder are due to fight for a third time, date not yet confirmed, and Joshua will have to wait for that fight to take place before he can step in the ring with either of those fighters.
A controversial decision saw the Gypsy King draw with Wilder in their first bout but Fury spectacularly stopped the American in their February rematch.
There is certainly the potential for some extremely exciting fights between the three heavyweights and that looks to be something that Joshua is targeting.
Watford’s WBA, IBF and WBO king told Apple Music: “I’m happy Fury won — it changed the whole dimension of the heavyweight division.
“We’re fighting for legacy. I need Wilder. I need Fury. I’m ready for them. I’m waiting for them.”
Andy Ruiz stunned AJ when stopping him in front of a shocked Madison Square Garden crowd but the Olympic gold medallist has since recovered his titles.
Joshua beat the Destroyer, via unanimous decision, in Saudi Arabia at the end of last year and that has put him firmly back in the heavyweight picture.
