Joyce and Dubois gear up for British showdown
British heavyweight prospects Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois will both have warm up fights before the pair meet later this year, according to boxing promoter Frank Warren.
Joyce and Dubois signed a deal earlier this year to fight each other and Warren insists that the bout will go ahead on October 24, but the fighters are keen for a warm-up first.
It's one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of the year in the UK, with both men putting their undefeated records on the line, and the winner will emerge as a top contender with some huge fights likely to follow.
Joyce is set to fight German Michael Wallisch in a ten-rounder on 25th July, while Dubois goes up against Erik Pfeifer on 29th August.
"Daniel and Joe returning is obviously huge, headline news and scheduling these fights reflect our growing confidence that Daniel and Joe will be able to finally square off on October 24," Warren said.
"I spoke to both teams and they both said that as it looks like we’re going to finally do this in October, they’d like tune-up fights first.
"Daniel hasn't boxed since December and Joe will have been out for an over year. These fights will sharpen them up and I'm sure they will deliver knockout performances that will get fans even more excited for October.
"For Erik and Michael it's a chance to cause huge upsets."
Dubois is 1.20 to beat Joyce when they meet, with Joyce 4.33.
