Reece seeks home comforts

Luis Reece says Derbyshire are focused on giving their own supporters something to shout about after going two years without a home win.

Derbyshire failed to win a single Championship fixture on their own turf in either the 2016 or 2017 seasons. Their only successes came on road trips to Glamorgan, Sussex and Gloucestershire last summer.

"It's been two years without a home win so we are trying to make sure we can produce some results for our home supporters and try and entertain the crowd," said former Lancashire all-rounder Reece.

"We've recruited a few new faces, so hopefully alongside the talent we already have within the squad, we can create pitches which suit them and help us to be more competitive in games."

The Midlands county have added Ravi Rampaul, the veteran West Indies fast bowler, to their ranks after letting three bowlers - Tom Taylor, Tom Milnes and Ben Cotton - go despite each having a season remaining on their existing deals.

For those that remain, Reece added: "The next couple of months are all geared towards getting outside and playing in the middle so the lads are working incredibly hard to make sure they tick all the boxes and are as well prepared as they can be.

"There are always things which you can work on and that's part of winter - you may want to get better at a skill you are already good at, or improve weaknesses."

Meanwhile, England are 4.50 to win the 2019 World Cup and New Zealand can be backed at 8.00.
