McGeeney handed Adams test
The draw for the first round of the BDO World Championship has thrown up a number of intriguing battles, including Mark McGeeney against Martin Adams.
McGeeney currently tops the rankings in the BDO and is the number two seed for the Lakeside, with Adams bring a quarter of a century of experience and three title successes to the table.
Sue Williams, chairperson of the BDO, told the body's official website: "Probably the most talked about draw will be Mark McGeeney vs Martin Adams.
"Although Mark is the in-form player, Martin has so much experience under his belt especially on the Lakeside stage where he loves nothing better than to go all the way with his matches - he doesn't do easy."
McGeeney, who has not been past round two in two previous visits to the Lakeside, is 5.50 to be crowned world champion early next year.
Meanwhile, fifth seed Ross Montgomery also face a very tough opening match, having been drawn to face two-time champion Scott Waites.
"Scott has had a quiet year on the circuit as he has become a daddy, but just last month he won the Jersey Open, so appears to be coming into form at the right time," Williams added.
Another notable tie sees 2015 world champion Scott Mitchell take on the dangerous Lithuanian Darius Labanauskas, who reached the quarter-finals just under 12 months ago, before being beaten by eventual winner Glen Durrant.
Durrant is 1.14 to retain his BDO crown, with Mitchell priced at 1213.00 and Waites available at 1213.00.
