FURIA complete junior transfer
CS:GO side FURIA have announced the signing of Paytyn "junior" Johnson from Triumph.
The Brazilian organization benched Henrique "HEN1" Teles earlier in the month, with the player opting into a new project with his twin brother Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles.
Speaking of his move on Twitter, junior said: "Ever since FURIA moved to NA, they've been my favorite team on & off the server. I've looked up to their lineup, raw skill, & supportive fans for a long time now."
Junior will look to continue his progressive streak with a side hungry to retain a top ten spot in the world rankings. The 20-year-old AWPer was previously on Triumph, joining in April 2020 and creating a sizable reputation for himself in his eight-month tenure.
Averaging an impressive 1.13 rating for Triumph in 2020, he played a crucial role in helping the side win Season 33 of ESEA MDL. He created a big impression at IEM Beijing-Haidian North America too, including a 1.36 rating against Liquid.
FURIA dominated the North American scene for much of 2020, finishing the year with an up and down campaign in Europe. Placing 1-2nd at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, they also finished 3-4th at DreamHack Masters Winter.
Junior will, however, miss the BLAST Premier Global Final, which kicks off in Europe on Tuesday.
He's unable to attend due to passport issues, which means FURIA will need to play their first tournament of the 2021 circuit with a stand-in.
