Cooper concentrating on final promotion push
Leeds captain Liam Cooper says his team-mates are determined to banish memories of their 2018-19 Championship play-off heartbreak by securing automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds ended up in the play-offs last season, losing 4-3 on aggregate in a dramatic semi-final tie against Derby, but they have their fate in their own hands this term.
Marcelo Bielsa's men beat Fulham 3-0 at the weekend to open up a three-point lead over West Brom with seven games of the season remaining.
Leeds take on relegation-threatened Luton at Elland Road on Tuesday and Pablo Hernandez is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after an impressive second-half substitute appearance against Fulham.
With first-choice keeper Kiko Casilla still suspended, Illan Meslier will start in goal against Luton, whose hopes of staying up were boosted by a 1-0 win at Swansea last time out.
Despite the visitors' lowly league position, Leeds skipper Cooper told Talksport that the title favourites will be taking nothing for granted.
"My message to the lads, I know it's a cliche, is to approach it game by game," Cooper said.
"We're lucky we've got a great bunch of lads, a fairly young group who are hungry, who want to go and develop and want to go and do this.
"We've put ourselves in a really good position but anything can happen, we all know the Championship, there is no given.
"We've just got to concentrate on us and the rest will take care of itself."
Leeds are 1.25 to beat 11.00 visitors Luton. The draw is a 6.50 chance.
