Arteta optimistic over FA Cup hero Aubameyang
Mikel Arteta is confident Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will commit to Arsenal after his heroics in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final victory.
The Gunners defied the odds to beat holders Manchester City 2-0 at Wembley with the Gabon international scoring both goals.
Aubameyang's future has been widely speculated over recent months after entering the final year of his contract.
Reports suggest the former Borussia Dortmund ace wants a three-year extension worth £250,000-a-week and Arsenal have, so far, been reluctant to meet those demands.
However, Arteta is feeling confident about the Gunners' chances of retaining the 31-year-old, especially if they go on to lift the FA Cup.
"The way I look at him when I speak with him, he sounds pretty convinced," he said. "But obviously if he can see that success and the direction we are taking is the right one, I think he will be more positive about it yes."
Arsenal were regarded as underdogs ahead of Saturday's engagement with City but the players stuck to their gameplan and will face either Chelsea or Manchester United in the final.
Arteta was beaming at the full time whistle and praised his men for having belief in his philosophy as they look to end the campaign with silverware.
He added: "Extremely happy and proud of the players. When you play this team, you have to give your best and when you have the opportunities you must make the most of them.
"There is a great chemistry between them [the players] and they really believe in what we are trying to do."
Arsenal are 2.37 to win the FA Cup with Manchester United priced at 2.75 and Chelsea available at 1.57.
