Cesar Azpilicueta claims even an FA Cup win would not be enough to make it a successful season for Chelsea.
The Blues defender spoke out after Antonio Conte's men were held to a 1-1 Premier League draw against struggling London rivals West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Azpilicueta had put Chelsea in front on 36 minutes and, despite dominating for the majority of the contest, the Hammers snatched a point courtesy of substitute Javier Hernandez's strike on 73 minutes.
The FA Cup is a massive trophy with a lot of history but it's not enough for us. We will try to win it but the cup will not save our season.Cesar Azpilicueta
The draw leaves Chelsea 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with six games remaining and with very little chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
The Blues could end the campaign with silverware in the FA Cup as they face Southampton at Wembley in the semi-finals on 22nd April, but Azpilicueta insists that would be scant consolation for a club with their aspirations.
The Spanish defender said: "The FA Cup is a massive trophy with a lot of history but it's not enough for us. We will try to win it but the cup will not save our season.
"To get a draw at home in another London derby is really frustrating for all of us and all of the fans. We are not happy. What matters is the score at the end, I am frustrated today, we should be able to win this game.
"We controlled the game, we created enough chances to win but we struggled at the end and maybe they could have scored the winner. It's becoming harder and harder every game it goes on."
Chelsea, who are 1.80 to win the FA Cup, are available at 1.50 to defeat Southampton in the semi-finals. The Saints are priced at 7.00 and the draw after 90 minutes is 4.75.
