Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Gabriel Jesus is back in training with Manchester City after six weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The City boss revealed the news about the 20-year-old Brazilian striker at his press conference ahead of Monday night's FA Cup fifth-round tie against League One outfit Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

Jesus, who has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions this season, has been missing since suffering ligament damage during the against Premier League clash Crystal Palace on New Year's Eve.

He has done one or two weeks training alone and today is the first training joining the team.

But he was back on the training ground with the rest of his team-mates on Friday and could be back in action soon.

"It's good news," said Guardiola. "I don't know when he'll be ready [to play].

"He has done one or two weeks training alone and today is the first training joining the team."

Jesus will miss Monday's FA Cup tie but his impending return will be a welcome boost for Guardiola as City continue to chase silverware on four fronts this season.

When asked about the possibility of rotating his squad for the game against Latics with one eye on the EFL Cup final against Arsenal next Sunday, Guardiola added: "Between the games in Basel and Wigan, you have six days and the next time, five or six days too.

"They can recover. When it’s three days, you have to take a look.

"The players feel well so we'll see. We are going to have three training sessions before we play Wigan but we will decide on the team on the day."

City, who are 1213.00 to win the FA Cup this season, are 1.12 to win at Wigan on Monday, while the hosts are 41.00 to emulate their shock 1-0 win against City in the 2013 FA Cup final at Wembley and the draw is priced at 10.00.
