Martinez gets Cup Final nod from Arteta
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is set to start Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.
Martinez has been a first-team regular for the Gunners since German shot-stopper Bernd Leno sustained a serious knee injury in the club's Premier League defeat to Brighton in June.
The 27-year-old Spaniard joined Arsenal in 2012 and has struggled for regular game-time but has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season.
And even though it was revealed Leno's injury would sideline him for a matter of weeks rather than months, the former Bayer Leverkusen man will not feature in Saturday's big match between the two London rivals.
Instead, Martinez will start between the sticks in a game Arsenal have to win if they are to qualify for next season's Europa League after they finished eighth in the Premier League standings following their 3-2 win over Watford at the Emirates on the final day of the season.
Speaking ahead of the final, Arteta said: "Emi has earned his place with another brilliant performance. When the team needed him he made some fantastic saves.
"Bernd is still recovering from his injuries so Emi's the one now.
"In football next week is too much. Let's hope that he's available for the game and if that's the case he will start the final."
Arsenal are 3.75 to beat Chelsea, who are 2.00, with the draw at 90 minutes 3.50.
