Hodgson worried about Chelsea test

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson admits his side face a tough task to keep tabs on Chelsea in Wednesday's London derby at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea remain on track to qualify for next season's Champions League following a comfortable 3-0 success over Watford on Saturday - the same score that Palace were beaten by Leicester at the weekend in a match where the Eagles registered just one attempt on target.

Chelsea are a very, very good team with many, many good players.

That made it three matches on the spin where Palace have failed to score, having also lost 4-0 at Liverpool and 1-0 at home to Burnley to slip down to 14th in the table.

Martin Kelly remains out of action despite returning to training and Jeffrey Schlupp and James Tomkins are also sidelined, but Christian Benteke made his return as a starter against Leicester in a match where youngster Tyrick Mitchell made his Premier League debut off the bench at left-back.

The Eagles in recent seasons have become notorious for picking up points against the elite clubs and they have claimed a 2-2 draw at Manchester City and won at Manchester United this season, but Hodgson is aware of the quality in Frank Lampard's visitors.

"Chelsea are a very, very good team with many, many good players and, irrespective of our own position in this moment in time, all we can do is prepare for it, get ready for it and look forward to it," he said.

"We are 100 per cent aware of all the challenges, with the quality that they have, that they're going to present us."

Crystal Palace are 8.00 to beat Chelsea, who are at 1.44. The draw is 4.33.
