Flick expects motivated Bayern
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick expects his side to bounce back from poor recent results and be "especially motivated" for their Champions League last-16 clash with Lazio on Tuesday night.
Bayern were crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions earlier this month, beating Mexicans Tigres in the final, but they have since disappointed domestically.
These are special games for us and I expect the team to be especially motivated.Hansi Flick
They were held to a 3-3 draw by minnows Arminia Bielefeld at the Allianz Arena before losing 2-1 away to in-form Eintracht Frankfurt and Flick is expecting a response from his team when they take on Serie A side Lazio in the first leg of their last-16 encounter.
Lazio placed second behind another German side - Borussia Dortmund - in the competition's group phase, but are on a good run in the league and even have their sights set on a top-three berth.
Bayern will not be helped by a string of absentees with Douglas Costa, Corentin Tolisso, Serge Gnabry, Alexander Nubel, Tanguy Nianzou, Thomas Muller and Benjamin Pavard all out, while Niklas Sule could now also be sidelined.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Flick said: "We all know what has happened in the last few days - I'm not looking for excuses. We weren't good against Bielefeld and Frankfurt.
"It's all about being in top form in the Champions League now. These are special games for us and I expect the team to be especially motivated."
Speaking about the availability of Sule, he added: "Niklas felt a niggle. It's possible that Joshua Kimmich might also play on the right side. But we still have to decide that."
Bayern are 1.85 to beat Lazio, who are 4.00 to win, with the draw 3.80.
