Simeone praises Tuchel's impact

Diego Simeone has piled praise on new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel insisting the German has already taken the Premier League club to another level since arriving at Stamford Bridge last month.

Atletico Madrid and the Blues clash in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in Bucharest and Simeone is wary of the threat carried by Tuchel's side.

We'll be facing a team with a coach that has managed to get every side he has taken charge of to play attractive football.

Tuchel has taken charge of seven matches since replacing Frank Lampard, winning five of them and drawing the other two, most recently at Southampton on Saturday when Mason Mount rescued a point for the Blues in a 1-1 draw.

They have conceded just two goals in seven games and Tuchel has also showed he'll be running the dressing room with an iron fist after unceremoniously substituting Callum Hudson-Odoi at St Mary's - less than 30 minutes after bringing him on.

Atleti boss Simeone has cultivated something of a hard man image himself as a no-nonsense player and manager, but it's Tuchel's brand of football rather than his disciplinarian approach that the Argentine admires.

"We'll be facing a team with a coach that has managed to get every side he has taken charge of to play attractive football," Simeone told reporters ahead of the showdown in neutral Romania.

"This season they've signed some excellent young players and since Tuchel has arrived they've improved their results a lot.

"But their squad speaks for itself, just look at the quality of their three goalkeepers, that proves their power, and their attacking players could get in any team in the world."

Atleti, top of La Liga despite suffering a shock 2-0 home defeat by Levante on Saturday, are 2.90 to win the first leg, with Chelsea at 2.62.

The Blues, who will be able to host the second leg at Stamford Bridge, are 1.61 to go through to the quarter-finals.
