DeChambeau confident he can continue his run
Bryson DeChambeau says he heads to the Rocket Mortgage Classic in a confident mood after a string of impressive results on the PGA Tour.
The American is back in the top 10 of the world rankings after a stellar 2020 so far.
DeChambeau has recorded six top-10 finishes in a row, and he is the only player to register top 10 finishes in the last three events.
The 26-year-old has five PGA Tour titles to his name, with his last success coming on the European Tour at the Omega Desert Classic in 2019.
My irons are going to be a lot shorter going into the greens no matter what club or yardage I have in.Bryson DeChambeau
DeChambeau has transformed his game in the last nine months, adding three stone in weight and packing on muscle to try and improve his game off the tee.
His plan has reaped rewards, with the Californian now the longest hitter on the PGA Tour. However, his accuracy will be under scrutiny at Detroit Golf Club, with a gentle approach needed around the greens.
With four par-fives to attack, DeChambeau fancies his chances of winning, and he believes his iron play will stand up to the test.
"I've played some incredible golf," he said. "I think over the long run; I'm looking at this as a long-term investment, this driving stuff.
"We're going to see what it produces for me, but being able to hit an eight-iron 195 yards is a pretty good asset, I'd say.
"So even though this course limits my driving capabilities, my irons are going to be a lot shorter going into the greens no matter what club or yardage I have in."
DeChambeau is priced at 7.00 to win the tournament outright, while he is 17.00 to finish as the first-round leader.
