Trainer Emma Stewart has high hopes for Shadow Sax as he prepares to return to action at Tabcorp Park Melton on Friday night.
Shadow Sax has been in the spelling paddock following his Group Two win last April, but is set to contest the Minuteman Free-For-All ahead of his next big assignment.
Stewart has her eyes on the big prize of the Breeders' Crown Graduate Free-For-All and will use Friday night's race as a 'tune up'.
$60,000 will be up for grabs on 24th August, and with the venue also being the same, Friday night is the perfect dress rehearsal.
"This race fits in nicely before the Breeders' Crown," Stewart said. "I am very happy with the way he has come back. He has trialled well and been working terrifically since and will be hard to beat.
"That said, whatever he does on Friday night, he will improve on before the Breeders' Crown."
Meanwhile, Western Australia raider Im Rockaria is also hoping to use the race as the ideal preparation for the Breeders' Crown Four-Year-Old Championship on 25th August.
He looks to be the main danger to Shadow Sax, but Stewart is confident from barrier three.
"I am happy with his draw and he will be very hard to beat from there," she added. Im Rockaria has won his last three starts and would not be here if his connections did not think he was a good chance.
"The draw has made it tougher on hi, but his form suggests he is a danger."
