Hanson enjoying life at Kingsholm
Gloucester hooker James Hanson is delighted to be extending his stay at the Kingsholm-based outfit.
The front-rower signed a long-term contract two weeks ago after previously being on a three-month loan deal from the Melbourne Rebels.
Hanson initially struggled to make the squad but has been impressive over recent weeks and the 29-year-old is looking forward to helping Johan Ackermann's men continue their development.
He said: "Where I think I'm going to play my best rugby and which environment is going to provide that is my priority and, for me, that was the Cherry and Whites.
"Where the club's at, at the moment, it's on a bit of a roll and I think the direction that Johan's taking it in, it's really exciting to be a part of that.
"I've loved my three months and I think the whole set-up here has really impressed me: the facilities, how professional the whole S & C, medical staff is and how good the playing group is. I'm really looking forward to the next period."
With the front-rower still getting used to the Aviva Premiership, Hanson admitted that it took him a while to understand his role in the squad.
"There were a few weeks of transitioning," he added. "Back home it's quite a short season and we probably don't have as much detail over there as what the guys do here.
"For me, there was a lot of knowledge to take in before I could really get into it and start playing. To play in the last few weeks in the Premiership is really exciting and I think the whole squad's getting on a bit of a roll."
