Raiders need a win
The Oakland Raiders entertain the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday knowing that only a win will keep their faint play-off hopes alive.
One game under .500 in what has generally been a miserable season, the Raiders still have thoughts of catching the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West Division, but with three games remaining, time is running out.
Last week Oakland, 26.00 to win the division, missed a golden opportunity to claim an important tiebreaker when they lost to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
Quarterback Derek Carr was picked off twice, completing 24-of-41 for 211 yards and one touchdown and the former Fresno State star has regressed this season.
Carr, who is now paid like a franchise quarterback, needs to start playing like one and the Raiders' offseason priority will be to address their offensive line and work on getting Carr back to his best.
For all practical purposes the game against the Cowboys is a must-win for Oakland who complete the campaign on the road with games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers.
LA were the visitors to Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday and could not get the better of the Chiefs as they fell 30-13.
Philip Rivers was picked off three times while his opposite number, Alex Smith, was an efficient 23-of-30 for 231 yards and two touchdowns.
Rookie Kareem Hunt rumbled for 155 yards and a score on 24 carries and that combination is the simple secret to success for Kansas City. Smith with the steady if unspectacular play and Hunt rushing over 100 yards.
Throw in a good defense and the Chiefs can compete with the likes of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots.
The Raiders are 1213.00 to win the AFC with the Patriots 1.20 and the Steelers priced at 1213.00.
