Saints winning streak at seven
The New Orleans Saints continue to defy preseason expectations as they won their seventh straight on Sunday with a 47-10 rout of the Bills in Buffalo.
Mark Ingram rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries while rookie Alvin Kamara added 106 yards and a score on 12 rushes.
All told the Saints gained 298 yards on the ground in 48 carries and are third in the NFL behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Dallas Cowboys.
So dominant was the rushing attack that quarterback Drew Brees, who normally would be presumed to have lit up the stats in such a one-sided affair, threw for only 184 yards on 18-of-25.
Throw in a defense that is allowing an average of 18.3 points per game and that's a very useful combination that bears watching in the second half.
This week the Saints return home to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans to welcome in the Washington Redskins.
With a showdown game against the Rams in Los Angeles to follow, the Saints will need to be careful to not overlook a Washington side that has beaten both the Rams and the Seattle Seahawks on the road this season.
Coincidently the Seahawks are the opponent next Monday of New Orleans NFC South Division rival the Atlanta Falcons.
Defeated in the Super Bowl by the New England Patriots, the Falcons have had something of a Super Bowl hangover, but with two games remaining against New Orleans down the stretch, Atlanta could shake things up in a hurry.
The Falcons are 5.00 to win the NFC South title, with the Saints 1.72 and the Carolina Panthers 3.25.
