Aussie Rules: Bombers secure talented youngster

18 May 2022 19:29:35 GMTPlus10

Essendon have confirmed that talented youngster Archie Perkins has committed his future by penning a two-year contract extension.

The Bombers have got the campaign off to a disappointing start and are priced at 251.00 to make the top eight and play finals. But now they have some good news with Perkins putting pen-to-paper.

Bright start to the season

The 20-year-old has been one of the few bright points so far this season when booting 10 goals in the nine games he has played. He has also averaged 12.2 disposals, 3.2 marks and 2.6 tackles per game.

Perkins, who was pick No.9 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft, is delighted to have committed his future and is looking forward to a bright future.

"I've loved my time at the Bombers so far and I'm so excited to remain at the club for another two years," he said.

"We are disappointed at the moment with our on-field results, but I'm very confident that we have a core group of young players who have a lot of potential and will take this club forward."

Star of the future

Essendon general manager of list and recruiting Adrian Dodoro has saluted the move and is in no doubts the Bombers have secured a potential star of the future.

"Archie has come into the club and quickly shown his commitment to improving and growing his game to become the best player he can be," he added.

"He has huge potential and with his work ethic and maturity, he will be a key player for the Bombers for many years to come."
