Aussie Rules: Longmuir confident over Fyfe return

20 May 2022 17:51:12 GMTPlus10

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir is confident that his captain Nat Fyfe will return to full fitness and start to produce his best footy once again.

The Dockers have got the season off to a great start and are priced at 5.25 to go on and reach the AFL grand final and they hope to soon be boosted by the return of Fyfe.

Injury issues

Fyfe has fully recovered from his shoulder reconstruction but has struggled with other issues, including a back niggle that needed surgery and put him back a number of weeks.

He is now closing on a return to action and Longmuir is confident that Fyfe will get back to playing his best footy and helping the team push for glory.

"Structurally his shoulder has been good to go for a while (but) he's had to deal with a few other niggles that are well spoken about over the last couple of months," Longmuir told reporters. "He's a really resilient character, he's a pro, and he works really hard to get his body right and up to its highest standard he can get it.

"He's been able to put a lot of injury niggles behind him in the past, and surgeries, and come back and play his best footy, and we're really confident he can do that this time."

Demons clash

Fremantle play the reigning premiers Melbourne at the MCG next weekend and it is hoped that Fyfe will be able to make his return.

"He's doing everything he can to be a part of it. He wants to get back and lead, and the best way he does that is by example on the field,” Longmuir added. "He's really keen to get back and play whatever role he can."
