Hodgson upbeat on Palace numbers

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson admits he is buoyed by having plenty of numbers to choose from as he looks ahead to Monday's trip to Leicester.

The Eagles sit 13th in the Premier League at the time of writing and have won just one of their last six in the league as their season looks set to fizzle out.

Last September, Palace were tipped to challenge for the top half and potentially Europe after signing Ebrechi Eze from Queens Park Rangers and then opening the campaign with wins over Southampton and Manchester United.

Things haven't worked out though and it promises to be a big summer at Selhurst Park with as many as 16 first team players either out of contract or seeing their loan agreements end.

Hodgson is also still to announce where his future lies with his deal up on 30th June but for now, he is focusing on his team's final seven games of the season, the first of those being a trip to FA Cup finalists Leicester on Monday.

The 73-year-old has provided a positive update regarding his squad, with several players closing on fitness, including defensive pair Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins.

Midfielder James McCarthur is sidelined but the boss is confident that Gary Cahill will be back in time to play after a minor knock.

After a season ravaged by injuries, Hodgson is understandably upbeat about his squad's status as he eyes a sixth away win of the season.

"We've got a lot of players back, which is good news," he said in his pre-match press conference.

"To be honest, we've had so many in the past in the treatment room, it feels strange."

Palace are 8.00 to win on Monday, with the draw 4.75 and Leicester available at 8.00.
