AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has vowed that his side won't take any backwards steps as the Serie A season reaches its "decisive moment".

The Rossoneri trail Milan rivals Inter by four points but have the chance to narrow the gap to a single point against Udinese on Wednesday night - 24 hours before Inter take on Parma.

We have to make the run-in our own.

Milan recovered from a surprise defeat at Spezia and in the Derby della Madonnina to beat Roma 2-1 at the weekend and Pioli wants his side to use that success at the Stadio Olimpico as the catalyst for their title tilt.

The victory came at a cost, though, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffering a thigh injury that will keep him sidelined for around three weeks.

Pioli confirmed that Portuguese youngster Rafael Leao will start against Udinese in place of Ibrahimovic and the Milan boss says his side can cope in the Swede's absence.

"Zlatan is our champion, he is the number one in everything, he is one more weapon, but the team has proven to be up to it even in his absence," he told reporters.

"We have to make the run-in our own, showing we are a great team and trying to get the most out of it," he added. "Only at the end will we draw conclusions.

"The decisive moment of the season is now. The worst thing is to do things by halves: we have to be aggressive and intense in every performance."

Milan are 1.75 to beat Udinese at the San Siro on Wednesday night, with the Zebrette 5.00 and the draw 3.50.

Leao is 2.50 in the anytime market.
