Leclerc full of optimism
Charles Leclerc is hopeful that Ferrari will be challenging at the front of the grid sooner rather than later after a disappointing 2020 F1 season.
Ferrari finished sixth in the Constructors' Championship last season, 442 points adrift of winners Mercedes as Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel struggled for pace.
Vettel, who picked up just 33 points, has moved on to Aston Martin with Carlos Sainz coming in to partner Leclerc for the upcoming campaign.
The Scuderia's power unit was one of the major issues last term and the team have been working hard to ensure they don't suffer from the same problem in 2021.
Mounting a challenge to Mercedes looks unlikely but Leclerc is hopeful that they can take some steps in the right direction.
Speaking during the Ferrari team launch, Leclerc said: "If you ask me, when we have a new project for the car it's always very difficult to know how things are going to go until you try it out.
"I think with all the meetings we've had since the beginning of the year, more or less we know that there are some positive things in this car. A huge amount of work has gone into it to improve it.
"After other people have done their work, we'll see how it goes on track. So yes I hope we'll be back in command soon.”
