Norris excited by McLaren's new Mercedes power
Lando Norris believes McLaren's new partnership with Mercedes is a marriage made in heaven which could yield yet another jump up the constructors table.
Norris and team-mate Carlos Sainz managed to steer McLaren-Renault to third place in the championship during the 2020 Formula One season - the team's final year in association with the French engine maker.
Now the Woking-based outfit has joined forces with Mercedes, the most powerful engine on the grid, and that can only mean good things, according to Norris.
The Briton had a reasonably successful campaign in 2020, improving from 11th place in the 2019 Drivers Championship to finish ninth with a string of top-tens and a third place in the season-opener in Austria.
Sainz has left for Ferrari to be replaced by Australian Daniel Ricciardo, and the McLaren drivers are hugely impressed with the car they will be taking into battle over the coming months.
The season, provisionally to be run over 23 races, starts in Bahrain on 28th March and Norris cannot wait to test out his new car.
"I think all round, it's a better package," he told Motorsport.com. "It's more power. Touch wood, it's more reliability. It's a slightly better-fitting package so, as a whole, there's a lot of positives about it.
"There's going to be some things which are a bit trickier but as a package it should be much better and that gives us good confidence it will take us that little bit further towards the top."
McLaren are 41.00 to win the Constructors Championship.
