Sergio Perez says he is looking forward to working with Max Verstappen at Red Bull but acknowledges he has a "big challenge" ahead.

Red Bull signed Perez from Racing Point in the hope of providing some serious competition for Verstappen after Alexander Albon failed to offer that last season.

They are keen to mount a challenge to Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship and eager to ease some of the pressure on Verstappen.

The Dutchman won two races in 2020 as he finished third in the Drivers' Championship, 109 points and four places clear of Albon.

Perez, meanwhile, enjoyed his best campaign on the grid, as he exceeded all expectations when sealing fourth spot for Racing Point.

The Mexican will be under greater scrutiny at Red Bull with the level of expectation even higher and he admits it will be a "challenge" to keep up with his new team-mate.

“It’s a big challenge,” Perez said on the Talking Bull podcast.

“We all know how talented he is, how fast he is, how much he has grown in the past years and how complete he is right now. He’s definitely one of the best, one of the fastest if not the fastest on the current grid.

“It’s a massive challenge, he’s been here a long time, knows what he needs from the car. I look forward to working with him.”

Perez can be backed at 34.00 to win the 2021 Drivers' Championship, while Verstappen is available at 2.10.
