Relaxed Red Bull perfect for Perez
Sergio Perez believes the values demonstrated by the Red Bull hierarchy makes it the perfect place for him to succeed.
The Mexican switched to the team in the close season after two decent years with Racing Point, the highlight being his sole win in F1 at last December's Sakhir GP.
That circuit again proved kind in the opening weekend of 2021 as Perez finished fifth at the Bahrain GP and he is now looking forward to the first European race of the campaign, the Emilia Romagna GP.
Imola is expected to suit Red Bull, with colleague Max Verstappen out for revenge following his agonising defeat to Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton three weeks ago.
Perez will also be targeting a possible podium having been sixth at the circuit last year and is clearly enjoying his time with his new team.
The 31-year-old says the tone within the Milton Keynes outfit is set by those at the top, namely Christian (Horner), Adrian (Newey) and Helmut Marko.
He feels the determined but relaxed atmosphere is exactly what is needed to realise his potential.
"As soon as you arrive at Red Bull, you know why they have been so successful, from Christian (Horner), Adrian (Newey) and Dr Marko, the whole team and how it's structured," Perez stated in an interview posted to the Red Bull Content Pool.
"It's very powerful and they can really do great things, so it's a massive opportunity for me. However, it's also funny and the other aspect of the Red Bull culture is how relaxed people are while working so hard. It is really something when you come from the outside and experience it.
"They don't have to be extremely strict to focus, they can be relaxed, but also delivering to the maximum levels. It's something that Red Bull does very uniquely in the sport."
Perez is 6.00 to win the Emilia-Romaga GP, with Verstappen 2.75 and Hamilton 2.00.
