McDonald excited for reunion

James McDonald can't wait to be reunited with Verry Elleegant in an attempt to act out their revenge against Addeybb in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The pair finished second to the European raider in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes and Queen Elizabeth last year but Verry Elleegant was able to turn the tables when winning the Ranvet last month.

Now McDonald is keen to even the score this weekend.

"Addeybb has beaten her twice, but I think we can level up this weekend," the leading Sydney hoop told Racing HQ.

"She pulled out all the stops, and hopefully it will work out the same this weekend.

"I am looking forward to it. She worked really well on Tuesday and felt terrific. It will take a pretty good horse to beat her. She is going into the race in really good form, I am rapt with her."

The Chris Waller-trained Verry Elleegant will jump from barrier four under McDonald, with Addeybb and Tom Marquand drawn one nearer the rail in three.

A field of seven are set to contest the 2000-metre contest after trainer Bjorn Baker was yesterday forced to scratch his intended runner, Samadoubt, after the seven-year-old suffered a career-threatening tendon injury.

Verry Elleegant is 2.30 to claim the spoils in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth Stakes, while Addeybb is 3.30 to cross the finishing line first.
