No Profiteer doubts for Price
Mick Price still believes Profiteer is the one to beat in next Saturday's Golden Slipper, despite the colt finishing second to Anamoe in last weekend's Group 2 Todman Stakes.
Profiteer, who landed the $2 million Inglis Millenium on his previous start, is well fancied for the Group 1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill.
Despite falling short last time out, Price was delighted with his run in the Todman, which came exactly a month after his Millenium triumph.
"Whilst I didn't want to run second, I was very pleased that where we think the horse is, he seems to be there, as he was a little bit fresh and he blew for a long time after the race," Price told Racing.com.
"He had 28 days between runs and had ten days in the paddock, where he was recovering and refueling for the Slipper.
"The Millennium was one mission accomplished now its onwards to the Slipper. He looked good on Sunday morning and he was nice and sound. The run will peak him and I think he's the one to beat."
Meanwhile, dual Group 3 winner Enthaar is likely to miss the Slipper. The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained filly, who finished sixth in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes on her last appearance, is set to be spelled, with her participation in the contest "unlikely", according to Maher.
Bruckner could be the stable's only representative in the race and he will likely need to win Saturday's Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes in order to qualify for the final field.
Profiteer is 3.50 for the Golden Slipper at Rosehill on 20th March, with Stay Inside 4.60, Anamoe 15.00 and Artorius 1000.00.
