Menuisier eyes Wonderful afternoon at Goodwood

A week later than planned, Wonderful Tonight is back in action on Saturday

Trainer David Menuisier is hoping having to wait an extra week will not dent Wonderful Tonight's prospects of adding another victory to her CV in the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes on the final day of Glorious Goodwood.

The four-year-old is 1.80 to win on Saturday, while she is 1000.00 to claim the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on 3rd October.

Connections raring to go

The weather refused to consent as far as Wonderful Tonight was concerned last Saturday ahead of the King George, meaning Menuisier had to sit tight and wait for the rain to arrive ahead of what on paper is an easier task against her own sex.

We're going there to win the race but we have to be humble.

Wonderful Tonight is being carefully plotted towards the Arc in October, with Menuisier determined not to risk her on fast ground before the big day.

No complacency from Menuisier

Saturday will provide a good chance for her to demonstrate her class against a decent field, including Aidan O'Brien's Divinely, while Oisin Murphy will be on board Andrew Balding's Tribal Craft.

Menuisier said: "I'm delighted with her. She's been ready to go since last weekend and I'm glad we're able to run because she feels great.

"The 5mm of rain we've had today is nothing but at least it stops the ground drying out too quickly. If we run her on good ground at the worst, that's good enough for me."

He added: "Aidan O'Brien's filly Divinely ran second to Snowfall in the Irish Oaks so it's not a weak CV. We're going there to win the race but we have to be humble, it's not a walk in the park as people might think."
