Ignatius heading back to Menangle
Trainer James Rattray is targeting the Group 1 Victoria Cup with Ignatius and will be keen to see how he goes when he returns to racing at Menangle on Saturday night.
Ignatius has been unable to race in the metropolitan grade at Menangle in recent times as he has been trained outside of that region, but Rattray has a cunning plan.
Rixon to take charge
Ignatius is set to be transported to the Hannah Rixon stable this week and that will allow him to race at Menangle once again.
Rattray's charge has been racing at Goulburn and Wagga in his last three starts but the trainer wants him back at Menangle before targeting the Victoria Cup.
"I want to race him in the Victoria Cup but I want to see how he measures up racing at Menangle again before that happens," Rattray admitted.
"I can't go to Menangle as I'm outside of the area so I will have Ignatius and Star Major transported to Hannah Rixon's at Pheasants Nest and she will take the horses to the races.
"Hannah has worked at my stable before so she knows how to take care of them. They will spend the day and night at her place and then come back home.
"John McCarthy will drive both horses, he has driven some great horses in the past and I didn't hesitate putting him on at all."
Ignatius will contest the Group 3 Garrards Horse and Hound Sutton McMillan FFA and will be looking to make it back-to-back wins after saluting at Goulburn on Monday.
Star Major returns to action after winning on 10th September and will contest the NR up to 95 event.
