Williams eager for Ascot duel
Desert Dreamer trainer Stuart Williams is looking forward to Saturday's rematch with System in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes at Ascot.
Desert Dreamer is 3.25 to win the contest at Ascot, while System is 4.50 to get the better of her rival again, like she did in the Listed Empress Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket last month.
Championship-chasing jockey Oisin Murphy, who has enjoyed another prolific week, will hope to stretch his lead with victory on board Desert Dreamer. The daughter of Oasis Dream has won two of her five starts, and produced a career-best performance in defeat last time out when a length and three-quarters second to Sandrine in Newmarket's Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes.
Sandrine, who is unbeaten in three starts, is held in the highest regard by her trainer Andrew Balding and holds a Group 1 entry in September in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, a race that has been landed by some very talented juveniles.
Desert Dreamer's focus on Saturday is getting the better of System, though, after the pair separated by only a neck when they clashed last time.
System may well have taken advantage of Desert Dreamer failing to enjoy a clear run at a crucial time that day and Williams is eagerly-awaiting their Ascot showdown.
He said: "Desert Dreamer didn't get a clean run through in the Empress Stakes when finishing second to System and it will be an interesting rematch.
"On the other hand, System was only having her second start so did well to win that day."
