Crows declare Fantasia interest
Adelaide Crows are keen to talk to Essendon forward Orazio Fantasia after claiming the player is keen to return to South Australia.
Fantasia had previously rejected a return to the state after turning his back on a move to Port Adelaide during the last Trade Period, but has since had a change of heart.
He still has one year remaining on his current deal with the Bombers, but Crows head of football Adam Kelly has revealed they will explore the possibility of getting him on board.
"We understand he wants to come back to South Australia," Kelly told SENSA on Monday. "Any player who's gone interstate who wants to return home, we're keen to talk to and understand what their motivations are.
"We're just not sure where that one will lie and how that will play out, but we're always keen to talk to South Australians who want to come home."
Fantasia has had his injury problems and managed to play just five games for the Bombers this season.
Repeated soft tissue issues are always a concern and Kelly has said the Crows medical team would be on to that if they did pursue a trade.
"As you'd imagine there would be some obvious concern there. He's played 33 games over the last three years, so he's had some durability issues," he added.
"The medical team, if we went down that path, they'll make a thorough assessment because it obviously presents an area of risk, but hopefully for Orazio it's something that can be managed and he can get back to playing that dangerous footy he played back in 2016-2017."
