McGrath pens Bombers deal
Essendon midfielder Andrew McGrath has told the Bombers supporters they should be excited about the future after he signed a new two-year deal.
The culture of the Essendon club has been under the spotlight in recent weeks following the news that star players such as Adam Saad and Joe Daniher have requested moves away from the club.
Orazio Fantasia is also said to be considering his future, but in a show of faith McGrath is keen to hang around and has penned a deal to take him through until the end of 2022.
The midfielder impressed during his breakout season, and believes the club have some good young players who can make progress under the leadership of new coach Ben Rutten.
"There is real belief amongst the players in the next phase we enter under 'Truck' (Rutten), and there is some great young talent throughout our playing group so our supporters should be excited by this," McGrath said.
"Our young group combined with our experienced leaders are extremely committed to growth, improvement and success in the coming years.
"It's great to be able to put pen to paper on a new deal and I'm thankful to the club for the opportunity and faith they continue to show in me.
"I am extremely determined to get the best out of myself and this whole playing group in order for us to move forward as a club."
The Bombers will now turn their attention to securing the futures of Jordan Ridley, Kyle Langford, Marty Gleeson, Brayden Ham, Andrew Phillips, Jayden Laverde, Will Snelling and Jacob Townsend.
