Pies secure trio to new deals
Collingwood have secured the future of gun defender Darcy Moore, while starlets Josh Daicos and Mark Keane have also penned new deals.
Magpies boss Nathan Buckley spoke of his determination to keep improving following last week's finals humiliation against Geelong and plans are clearly in place.
Collingwood will be using the Trade Period as they look to bolster their list for the 2021 campaign, but keeping the club’s bright young stars is also a top priority and news of the three signings comes as a huge boost.
All three players have signed two-year deals so will remain on board until at least the end of the 2022 AFL season.
Moore in particular enjoyed an outstanding season when playing in all but one of Collingwood's games and proved himself as one of the best defenders in the competition.
The 24-year-old capped a fine season by being named an All-Australian and the Pies will be hoping he can kick on even more over the next two years.
Winger Daicos also had an impressive season when making 18 appearances that saw him finish in sixth position in the Copeland Trophy Count.
20-year-old defender Keane made his debut against Fremantle in round nine and is hot prospect for 2021.
Collingwood list manager Ned Guy has saluted the news that all three players have committed their futures as they look to move the Pies on to the next level.
"Clearly, given the ages of all three players, there is significant upside," he said. "Even for someone like Darcy, who is now and All-Australian, his peak years are ahead and with Josh and Mark they have so much scope to develop. We expect all of them to be important to Collingwood for many years to come."
Port Adelaide are priced at 5212/1 to win the grand final.
