Saints faced with Hannebery dilemma
St Kilda could be ready to take a risk on Dan Hannebery when they face GWS in a huge game at the Gabba on Friday night.
Saints head into the game knowing they need to beat the Giants to cement their place in the top eight. A defeat would mean other results needing to go their way, and with that in mind, Hannebery could return.
Hannebery has made good progress since undergoing surgery to fix the hamstring injury he picked up back in round five and could get the nod to face GWS.
The fact that the star midfielder has only played 10 games in two seasons because of injury, is a concern for coach Brett Ratten, who will take that into consideration before a final decision is made.
"We got a good look at him at training this morning, so now we just have to decide what's the best way to go," Ratten said.
"(His injury history) does play into it a bit and that's probably the conversation this afternoon.
"When you're here and you watch him run around and everything looks good, he's vocal, he's a leader of our team and he influences others, you think it would be nice to have him onboard. But we do have to consider the other things as well."
Ratten also has other decisions to make ahead of the game with defensive duo Jake Carlisle and Dylan Roberton both pushing for recalls.
There is some good news for gun midfielder Jack Steele, who picked up a corkie this week, but has been passed fit to take his place in the side.
St Kilda are priced at 4/5 to beat GWS, who are 21/20.
