Saints surprise reigning premiers
Reigning premiers Richmond suffered the biggest surprise of the 2020 campaign when they lost by 26 points to St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
Former Tiger Dan Butler was one of the key men as the Saints, coming off a 44-point defeat to Collingwood, rebounded strongly against Damien Hardwick's side.
St Kilda kicked seven goals to four in the second half, securing a convincing 15.3 (93) to 10.7 (67) victory.
The Tigers have not won since the season restarted, and to add to their woes it was their 2017 premiership hero Butler that did much of the damage. He kicked three goals and had 13 disposals, as Brett Ratten's team levelled the ledger on their season at 2-2.
Butler snapped St Kilda's first goal of the game, then moments later steadied with a brilliant kick to set up Tim Membrey for another major in a quarter that yielded six disposals, three marks, three score involvements and 191m gained.
Three consecutive majors from St Kilda in the third term helped build a crucial 28-point lead.
Toby Nankervis, who was Richmond's most influential player with 17 disposals and 26 hitouts, kicked a goal on the three-quarter time buzzer to cut the deficit to just 15 points at the final change.
But the Saints booted three goals to one in the final term to close out the victory.
Tim Membrey shouldered the burden of being the main target in attack nicely for the Saints, finishing with three goals, while Jack Lonie had 16 disposals and two goals.
Richmond are 7/10 to win their next game against West Coast, who are 59/50.
The Tigers are 91/100 conceding a 5.5-points start.
