Smith commits to Crows
Adelaide ace Brodie Smith could be set to see out his career with the Crows after penning a new three-year deal with the club.
The versatile 28-year-old was due to fall out of contract at the end of the 2021 AFL campaign and would have had the opportunity to explore free agency and the rewards that can bring.
However Brodie has turned his back on that in favour of penning a new deal with the Crows that will take him through until the end of the 2024 campaign.
The news comes as a big boost to the Crows. Smith has missed just one game over the past two seasons and having such experience in the ranks will be hugely beneficial as the club look to progress.
Smith certainly believes the future is a bright one and he is looking forward to playing his part.
"I absolutely love this footy club and I'm so happy to be signing on for another three years," Smith said. "We're building a really strong culture here and it's exciting to see how quickly our younger guys are developing and driving the standards, pushing all of us to get better every single day.
"I can't wait to see their continued growth this year and play my part in helping them to improve wherever I can."
Crows list manager Justin Reid has also saluted the move and says it is a big deal for the club.
"Brodie is a quality person and will play a key role in helping to fast-track the development of some of our young defenders as part of our list rejuvenation," Reid said.
The Crows are priced at 100/1 to win the AFL grand final.
