Stoinis thanks generous KP
Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has praised the influence of Melbourne Stars team-mate Kevin Pietersen on his game.
Stoinis will face England in the forthcoming five-match on-day series after establishing himself as one of Australia's premier white-ball players.
And he credits multiple Ashes winner Pietersen for playing a role in his development.
"He's been unbelievable for me. He's been unbelievably generous with his time and he hasn't needed to be," Stoinis said.
"That's probably been over the last 12-months that we've built a stronger relationship and have had continual conversations about cricket and perspective.
"He's been through everything, from the front page to the back page of the paper.
He's a smart cricketer - there's a reason why he's as good as he is. He's been good for me."
Stoinis, whose batting is coupled with slippery medium pace bowling, struck a career-best 99 in Big Bash defeat to Brisbane Heat three weeks ago, having been advised to take a more relaxed approach by KP.
"I don't know if "not taking it too seriously" is the right way to put it, but it's more just understanding that you're there to enjoy it and you're there to perform as well as you can, in front of some unbelievable crowds," the 28-year-old added.
"You've got opportunities that so many people are dreaming of and you've been dreaming of for a long time. Once you get there you've got to remember to enjoy that."
Australia are 1.50 to win Sunday's first one-day international against England while Brisbane Heat are 1213.00 to triumph in the Big Bash League.
