Froome tempted by Giro challenge
Chris Froome says he is likely to prioritise a challenge for a fifth Tour de France victory next season, but also has Giro d'Italia glory in his sights.
Team Sky ace Froome became only the third rider to win both Le Tour and the Vuelta a Espana in the same season by riding to victory in Madrid on Sunday, but the 32-year-old insists he is far from finished just yet.
I'm sure the time will come when I will target the Giro.Chris Froome
He told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek: "A fifth Tour de France title will take my aim, but it's early days and I'll wait to see what the Giro, Tour and Vuelta courses look like next year and sit down with my team to draw up the goals.
"I'm sure the time will come when I will target the Giro. It's a big task to try to go for the Giro and it could compromise the Tour, but I wouldn't write it off."
Meanwhile, Froome was almost lost for words after winning in Spain and joining Bernard Hinault and Jacques Anquetil as the only riders to claim the Vuelta-Tour double in the same season.
He added on Sky Sports News: "It's quite overwhelming.
"You start out at the beginning of the year and set the goal of trying to win the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana.
"It's such a massive challenge and it seemed quite daunting at the time. To be here in Madrid now and to have pulled it off is such an incredible feeling."
Froome can be backed at 100/1 to win a fifth Tour de France title in 2018, with Richie Porte priced at 1111/1 and Nairo Quintana 4500/1.
