Van Gerwen off to a flying start
Michael van Gerwen sent a warning to the rest of the field at the PDC World Championship as he put in a highly impressive display in seeing off Ryan Murray.
Three-time world champion Van Gerwen averaged almost 109 as he defeated Murray 3-1 in their second-round encounter, with MVG setting up a showdown with either Ricky Evans or Mickey Mansell.

Afterwards Mighty Mike announced himself ready and raring to go for the rest of the tournament at the Ally Pally, with Van Gerwen 1212/1 to claim the title and 1/2 to reach the final.
He told the official PDC website: "I played a phenomenal game when I had to, I'm happy with how I played. I couldn't give him a chance because the way he was playing he would've taken it.
"I had to pull out a great performance and I'm really glad I did. It took some doing, but my scoring power was there consistently. I missed a few doubles but I can't really complain, it was a good performance.
"I'm feeling good about myself at the moment, the confidence is back and I feel ready to take on this tournament."
Also into round three is Mervyn King, who recently lost to Van Gerwen in the Players Championship Finals final, with the Englishman seeing off Max Hopp 3-1.
Two-time BDO world champion Scott Waites won on his PDC worlds debut, but was pushed to the limit before edging out Matt Campbell 3-2 to set up a second-round clash with sixth seed Nathan Aspinall.
Waites is priced at 12/5 to defeat Aspinall, who is 1/3 to progress through to round three at the expense of the Yorkshireman.
