West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry believes the squad at The Hawthorns does have the ability to get themselves out of trouble and avoid the drop this season.

The Baggies currently find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League table, with four points between Alan Pardew's men and safety.

Pressure is starting to mount at The Hawthorns and things don't get any easier as they prepare to face Chelsea in their next game on Monday night.

Former Aston Villa and Manchester City star Barry knows his side have their work cut for them but is adamant they have what it takes to retain their Premier League status this term.

"It will be a case of taking things one game at a time," Barry told the club website. "There are going to be a lot of up and downs between now and the end of the season. It's up to us to make sure there are more ups."

Barry has conceded the 3-2 home defeat to Southampton was a bitter pill to swallow last time out but knows picking up results at the Hawthorns is going to key going forward.

"The home form is going to be vital. That’s probably why the Southampton result has knocked us a bit," he added.

"Before that the results and performances had been really good so it's important to put that one to bed really early, go into Chelsea and then from then on be really positive about our form and take it through to the end of the season."

West Brom are 12122.00 to avoid the drop this season.
