Carvalhal expects Swans to climb

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal believes his side will start climbing the table after seeing them battle in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on Tuesday night.

The Swans battled hard at the Liberty Stadium against a free-scoring Spurs outfit but found themselves behind after Fernando Llorente scored the opener from what appeared to be an offside position.

Dele Alli managed to wrap up the three points late on but there were plenty of positives for the Swans to take going into their next Premier League outing against Newcastle United on 13th January.

Carvalhal, taking charge of just his second game in the top flight, believes his side have the ability to pull themselves off the bottom of the table but will be looking for fresh faces in the January to help bolster their options.

He said: "What I've seen is that I have a team with character and quality. They are brave and they fight for the points with discipline.
"Let's see if we can get one or two players in the market but if not the players we have will be brave and show commitment. I am a happy coach with my team. We can achieve points."

Swansea are 5.50 to win, 3.70 to draw and 1.75 to lose to the Magpies at St James' Park.
