Brighton boss Chris Hughton has signed the versatile Brazilian player Bernardo from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £9million.
The 23-year-old prefers to play at left-back but is content to play anywhere in defence or in central midfield.
Gaetan Bong and Markus Suttner competed for the Seagulls' left-back spot last season.
Bernardo said: "I chose the club because they showed a big interest in me and my goal has always been to play in the Premier League because it's the biggest league in the world.
"I heard about the interest and then, when I saw the fans, the club and the facilities and the sea I knew it was the right place for me.
"I'm a versatile player and I've come here as mainly a left-back, but I've also played in the centre of defence and as a central midfielder."
Bernardo has inked a four-year deal with Brighton, who can be backed at 3.30 to beat Watford at Vicarage Road in their first game of the 2018/19 Premier League season on 11th August.
He joined RB Salzburg in January 2016 before moving to Leipzig in the summer of 2016. Bernardo featured in 40 matches for the German side, who are 201.00 to win the Bundesliga title in 2018/19. Meanwhile, Brighton are 9.00 to be relegated from the Premier League this term.
