Saka waiting for shot at 'dream' role
Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka has revealed that it's his "dream" to play on the wing but is willing to fill in as a full-back as long as manager Mikel Arteta needs him to.
Saka has caught the eye with several impressive performances since making his debut for the Gunners in November 2018.
The 18-year-old Englishman was restricted to a handful of appearances last season but has steadily become an important member of Arsenal's squad over the course of the current campaign.
Initially deployed in an attacking role by former boss Unai Emery, the Londoner scored in his first outing of the season as the Gunners beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in the Europa League in September.
Saka has since made 29 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions but has been shifted into a more defensive role since Arteta took charge at the Emirates in December.
The talented teenager has excelled at left-back, producing several Man of the Match performances despite playing in an unfamiliar position having been asked to fill in due to injuries to Kieran Tiernay and Sead Kolasinac
Saka has admitted that, while he always saw himself on the wing, he is happy to do as his manager instructs him.
"I feel like my dream was always to be a winger, to affect games, score goals and get assists," he told the Daily Mirror.
"For now I’ll do the job the manager asks me to."
Saka has been capped by England up to under-19 level but senior honours might not be far away.
