Valtteri Bottas is targeting more race wins in 2018 as he looks to challenge Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton for the Formula 1 title.
The 28-year-old secured a move to the Silver Arrows ahead of this past season when Nico Rosberg quit F1 12 months ago, just days after he won his first drivers championship title.
Of course you need to be consistent and, for me, the biggest thing was inconsistency through the season.Valtteri Bottas
Bottas had hoped to emulate the German and push Hamilton for the title in 2017, but ended up settling for third place in the standings after Ferrari's Sebastian vettel proved to be more of a challenger to the Briton.
But, while Hamilton claimed his fourth world title, Bottas at least ended the season on a high with victory in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last month.
And the Finn is looking to ensure he claims the chequered flag on a more consistent basis next year after just three race wins in his debut season at Mercedes.
Bottas told Sky Sports F1: "The target next year is to win more. With the points system you need to win races if you are to win the title.
"Of course you need to be consistent and, for me, the biggest thing was inconsistency through the season. There were times when l performed really well and there were times when l performed not so well.
"That was the main reason Lewis beat me. He was on it all the time."
Bottas is 2001.00 to win the F1 title in 2018, while Hamiltoin is priced at 1.002 and Vettel is available at 51.00.
