Hamilton eyes winning finale
Lewis Hamilton wants to put the icing on his fourth title-winning Formula 1 campaign with a 10th race win of 2017 in Sunday's finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver sealed the drivers championship three weeks ago when a ninth-placed finish in Mexico was enough to end Sebastian Vettel's hopes of catching him.
Hamilton then stressed that he wanted to end the year on a high and avoid a repeat of 2015 when he failed to win any of the final three races having wrapped up the championship early.
I'm going to give it everything in Abu Dhabi, It's cool and I'm excited for that. It's obviously an unusual position to be in.Lewis Hamilton
But a crash in qualifying in Brazil a fortnight ago left the 32-year-old Briton starting from the pitlane in the race.
And, while Hamilton impressively fought his way through the field, he had to settle for fourth place at Interlagos.
Therefore, Abu Dhabi, where Hamilton has won on two of the last three visits to the Yas Marina circuit, offers him the final chance to record another race win.
"I'm going to give it everything in Abu Dhabi," he said.
"It's cool and I'm excited for that. It's obviously an unusual position to be in."
Despite being given an opportunity to recharge his batteries after this weekend, Hamilton insists he is not looking forward to the close-season.
He added: "I'm on the back end of a career, even though it could still be relatively long, so it's easy to wish days to go by and I'm happy for it to take its time.
"I don't wish the winter break was here because before you know it you'll be into the next season and I have a lot on before Christmas."
Hamilton is 2.00 to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, while Vettel is priced at 8.00 to follow up his win in Brazil with a second successive win.
