Rebecca Bartley has expressed her relief after San Carlo came good to book a place in the Inter Dominion Championships Final at Gloucester Park on Friday.

San Carlo was well down the rankings when the road to Perth began in September but climbed the ranks to book a place in the series, and is now in the final after leading throughout to win the third round heat on Friday.

San Carlo scored from hot favourite Soho Tribeca, and star pacer, Lennytheshark in 1:56.3 over 2536 metres.

"There was a little bit of pressure trying to hold the lead when a few moves were made, but we didn't get a lot of pressure after that, which I thought would come," Bartley said.

"He was travelling well around the bend and up straight I knew he'd kick. In the end he held them pretty easily."

Naturally thrilled with her Group Two success, Bartley revealed the victory has also had a side effect.

"I didn't get much sleep as I was so hyped up," Bartley declared. "I'm on cloud nine and I feel like it still hasn't sunk in yet...I'm going to be driving in an Inter Dominion Final!

"It is definitely my biggest thrill so far as I never imagined something like this would happen so early in my career."

Looking to week ahead, she added: "He has pulled up great from last night and will have a couple of easy days, with a light jog on Monday.

"He won't do much during the week and will most likely have a hopple or a canter on Tuesday or Wednesday."
