Clancys Fobwatch breaks his drought
Clancys Fobwatch will be aimed at numerous country cups after breaking his drought ay Tabcorp Park, Melton on Saturday night.
Despite the win, Clancys Fobwatch has been banished to the provincial circuit but trainer Adam Kelly is not concerned as there are cup meetings each weekend for the foreseeable so he has plenty to choose from over the next nine weeks.
"I haven't made any solid plans with him, but at this stage it's likely he will go to the Charlton Cup next," Kelly said. "After that there's Wangaratta, Boort, Ouyen, Warragul and Ararat, which are suitable.
"I'll just see how he goes at Charlton and work it out from there."
With Zac Phillips in the sulky during his latest win, Clancys Fobwatch finished strongly along the home straight to score by four metres from Cruz Bromac, with Code Black a neck away third.
Clancys Fobwatch rated a quick 1:54.6 over 2240 metres, much to the delight of Kelly, who was happy to see things go the gelding's way for once following a luckless run.
"He got the right run and was able to make the most of it," Kelly said. "He's been racing consistently and when things go his way he can make an impact like he showed tonight."
