Vincent heads back home
Trainer Mark Purdon has confirmed Vincent is heading back to Australia following his victory in the Auckland Cup at the weekend.
The Australian Pacing Gold graduate is now based in New Zealand but will return to his state of origin in search of more Group 1 success.
Following his victory in the Auckland Cup, Vincent will be given a brief rest before Purdon and co-trainer Natalie Rasmussen head to New South Wales with the four-year-old.
Vincent is no stranger to Group 1 success at Tabcorp Park Menangle having captured last season's New South Wales Derby and Breeders' Challenge.
This time around the son of Art Major will target the Chariots Of Fire and then also contest the Miracle Mile should he earn a berth in the time-honoured sprint.
"He will have a quiet week now before he goes over to Sydney," Purdon said. "We will give him a couple of starts in the lead-up races to the Chariots.
"If he qualifies for the Miracle Mile we will also run him in that."
Vincent's trip over the Tasman means he will clash with stablemate Ultimate Machete, who dominated last month's four-year-old majors in Western Australia.
The last time the pair met at Menangle, Ultimate Machete finished second behind Vincent in the Derby and another thrilling match-up looks to be on the cards.
